Co-Ed Baby Shower Games: 8 Ideas for Everyone
Co-ed baby shower games are designed for a mixed guest list: friends, relatives, partners and parents-to-be can all join without the activities relying on gender stereotypes. The easiest format is a series of short team games where nobody needs specialist baby knowledge.
Use three to five ideas for a two-hour shower. Mix tables so each team includes people from different parts of the parents’ lives, then explain the rules before handing out materials.
1. Baby shower team bingo
You need: one bingo card per guest and a set of call-out words. Time: 10 minutes.
Use neutral prompts such as pram, teddy, story, bib, bedtime and family. Call words from a bowl until someone completes a line. This works as an icebreaker because guests can play while chatting at their tables.
2. Baby-item price challenge
You need: six everyday baby products and current prices. Time: 8 minutes.
Show each item and ask teams to estimate its price. Give the point to the closest answer. Use products approved by the parents so they can be gifted afterwards. Do not make the game depend on income or ask what the family can afford.
3. Nursery-rhyme picture quiz
You need: ten picture or emoji clues. Time: 7 minutes.
Teams identify each nursery rhyme or children’s song. Read the clues aloud as well as printing them. If several generations are attending, include both traditional and newer titles.
4. Nappy-bag memory tray
You need: a tray of 12 clean baby items and a cloth. Time: 7 minutes.
Show the items for 30 seconds, cover the tray and let teams list what they remember. Award one point per item. A seated guest can reveal and score the tray so the activity gives everyone an equal role.
5. Baby Pictionary relay
You need: paper, thick pens and baby-themed prompt cards. Time: 10 minutes.
One player draws while their team guesses. Rotate the artist after every prompt. Use objects and activities such as pram, bedtime story, bottle, bath duck and changing bag. No drawing skill is required; the imperfect pictures are the point.
6. Don’t say “baby”
You need: one peg or token per guest. Time: throughout the shower.
Guests lose their token if another player hears them say the chosen word. The person holding the most tokens at the agreed finish time wins. Use a different word if “baby” makes normal conversation impossible.
7. Match the childhood photo
You need: optional childhood photos from willing adult guests. Time: 10 minutes.
Display numbered photos and ask teams to match them to a guest list. Participation must be optional, and nobody should need to explain why they did not submit a photo. This game is about the adults attending, not the child or parents’ private history.
8. Team wishes for the family
You need: cards and pens. Time: 8 minutes.
Each team writes a practical offer, a favourite family activity and a short welcome. Keep the messages supportive and future-focused. Collect them in a baby memory book or box for the parents.
How to make mixed teams work
- Use teams of four to six and mix friendship groups.
- Give each team a name or colour rather than “men versus women”.
- Rotate drawing, writing, reading and scoring roles.
