Would She Rather? 40 Hen Party Questions and Rules

Would She Rather is a hen party game in which guests predict which of two options the bride would choose. The bride records her choices, players make their guesses and each matching answer earns one point.

Illustrated choices of tea or coffee, a beach or city break, and books or music

The important detail is her preference. Guests are not voting for their own favourite or trying to pick the answer most people would choose.

Use the 40 questions below to make a round that fits the bride. There is a suggested 12-question selection, a copyable answer sheet and a simple way to deal with a question she does not want to answer.

What you need and how long to allow

You need the same question list for every player, a pen each and the bride's private answer key. One answer sheet per team works too. For a version without printing, read the questions aloud while guests write numbered A or B answers on plain paper.

Try 12 questions for a short round. Allow roughly 10–15 minutes for guessing and revealing as a starting plan, with more time if the answers spark stories. Select a comfortable place where everyone can hear the host.

How to play Would She Rather

  1. Choose the questions and ask the bride to approve them privately. You can replace any pair that does not suit her.
  2. Ask her to choose A or B for each question before players see her answers. Keep that key for scoring.
  3. Give everyone the same list. Explain that they are predicting the bride's choice, not answering for themselves.
  4. Let guests mark their guesses individually or in agreed teams. No looking at the bride's key.
  5. Read each pair aloud and reveal her recorded choice. Give one point for each match.
  6. Add the scores. Highest total wins; a shared win is fine if there is a tie.

If she likes both options, ask which she would pick today. If she prefers neither or wants to pass, replace the question before playing. If a question is withdrawn during the reveal, remove it from every player's possible total.

A quick 12-question round

Start with questions 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, 18, 23, 26, 30, 33 and 39. Renumber your selected questions 1–12 on both the guest sheet and the bride's key.

That gives you a mixture of ordinary choices, days out, food, celebrations and playful dilemmas. A short, varied round is easier to host than asking the whole question bank in order.

For a family gathering, you can use these prompts without adding an adult-only round. If the bride would rather keep wedding details private, replace those questions with more everyday choices.

A worked score and tie rule

Suppose a player matches the bride on ten questions and misses two. Their score is 10 out of 12. There are no deductions and no extra points for guessing what most guests preferred.

If the bride withdraws one question during the reveal, cross it out for everybody and score the remaining round out of 11. Do not award a point for a question with no agreed answer.

For a tie, keep one extra bride-approved pair off the main sheet. Tied players write A or B before you reveal her answer. If that still leaves several winners, share the result rather than asking increasingly awkward questions.

Adapt the game to your group

For guests who have only recently met the bride, use everyday choices that allow a reasonable guess. They do not need to know years of private history to join in.

For team play, mix people who know her from different parts of life. Use one sheet per team and one point per correct team answer, not one point for every person who agreed.

Keep participation optional and leave drinking out of the scoring. The bride can explain a choice, but she does not owe anyone a reason or have to defend it against what friends think she “really” prefers.

If you want a game based on facts rather than two-choice predictions, choose Who Knows the Bride Best from our hen party games guide. You may only need one bride-focused quiz in the running order; use the hen party planning checklist to leave room for food and conversation too.

Prefer ready-printed games

Our standard eight-game hen party bundle and Rose Gold eight-game bundle each include a Would She Rather game. Both have guest-pack choices for 10, 20, 30 or 40 people.

The 40 pairs in this guide are separate DIY ideas, not the question list printed in those packs. Choose a product by its stated contents and selected guest quantity, and follow its supplied instructions when playing.

Common questions

Is it Would You Rather or Would She Rather

In an ordinary Would You Rather game, each player chooses for themselves. In this version, everyone predicts the bride's choice. Make that distinction before handing out the sheets.

Does the partner need to send answers

No. Only the bride's choices form the key. You can play without involving her partner at all.

Can the bride reveal answers live instead

Yes, but collecting her choices beforehand gives the host a clear key and lets her screen the questions. Keep the recorded answer for scoring so guesses do not influence the result.

Do you need prizes

No. A shared round of applause is enough. If you want a small prize, agree how you will handle a joint win before the game begins.
