Bridal Emoji Pictionary: 20 Clues, Answers and Rules

Illustrated wedding-themed guessing game with answer sheets, pens and wedding symbols
Original editorial illustration.

Bridal emoji pictionary is a seated guessing game: players turn groups of emoji into wedding words and phrases. Give every player or team the same clues, keep the host key separate and award one point for each accepted answer.

This article gives you one complete 20-clue DIY round for a hen party or bridal shower. Its answer key matches these clues only. It is not the key to another seller's printable or to Forever Lily's paid Bride Emoji cards.

What to prepare

Use one clue sheet and pen per player or team, plus a host copy of the answers. Plain paper is enough for writing responses. A small prize and a timer are optional.

For a first attempt, try eight minutes for answers and leave another five to ten minutes for marking and discussion. Adjust that planning allowance to the group. If people prefer a relaxed table activity, agree a finishing point rather than racing the clock.

Tell players the category is wedding words and phrases, not romantic films, songs or baby items. The pictures sometimes stand for a word or sound rather than spelling the whole phrase literally. For more activities around this one, see our hen party games guide.

How to play bridal emoji pictionary

  1. Copy the 20 clues onto a player sheet, keeping the answers on a separate host sheet.
  2. Test the actual screen or printout before making all the copies. Check that every symbol is visible.
  3. Explain the wedding-word theme, whether players may work together and the finishing time.
  4. Ask players to write one answer for each number without looking things up.
  5. Stop together, then reveal the answers one at a time.
  6. Give one point for each exact answer or accepted alternative and add the total out of 20.

Decide before play that ordinary spelling differences do not lose a point. If a clue has another reasonable interpretation, accept it consistently for everyone who gave that answer.

Answers and explanations for this round

Keep this section with the host. The explanations show why an alternative might be reasonable; they are not extra hints players must memorise.

On a small screen, scroll across the table to read all columns.

Number Intended answer Explanation and accepted alternatives
1 Honeymoon Honey plus moon. Accept “honey moon”.
2 Wedding bells The chapel gives the wedding setting and the bell supplies the object. Accept “wedding bell”.
3 Ring bearer “Bear” suggests the sound at the start of bearer. Accept “ring bear” as the intended wordplay.
4 Diamond ring A diamond-like gemstone followed by a ring. Accept “engagement ring”.
5 Bridal shower Bride plus shower. Accept “bride shower” or “wedding shower”.
6 Cutting the cake The knife gives the action. Accept “cake cutting”.
7 First dance One suggests first, followed by a dancer. Accept “the first dance”.
8 Bouquet toss The flowers are a bouquet and the target suggests throwing towards something. Accept “throwing the bouquet” or “catching the bouquet”.
9 Wedding cake The chapel sets the wedding theme. Accept “the wedding cake”.
10 Wedding photography A couple pictured together with a camera. Accept “wedding photos”, “couple's photographs” or “couple photoshoot”.
11 Save the date The disk suggests saving, while the calendar supplies the date. Accept “save-the-date card” or “save-the-date invitation”.
12 Seating plan A seat plus a map or plan. Accept “table plan”.
13 Dress code Clothes plus a written set of rules. Accept “wedding dress code” or “outfit instructions”.
14 Wedding breakfast The chapel gives the wedding setting and the egg suggests breakfast. Accept “wedding meal”.
15 Wedding car A car decorated with a ribbon. Accept “bridal car” or “decorated wedding car”.
16 Bridesmaids Friends pictured with a bride. Accept “bridal party”, “bride squad” or “bride's attendants”.
17 Best man A winner's trophy suggests best, followed by a man. Accept “the best man”.
18 Wedding flowers A wedding setting and a flower. Accept “wedding bouquet” or “bridal flowers”.
19 Gift list A present plus a list. Accept “wedding gift list” or “gift registry”.
20 RSVP A reply confirming an invitation. Accept “accepting the invitation”, “invitation accepted” or “reply to invitation”.

Some clues are broader than others, especially the bouquet and couple's photograph. The key accepts those reasonable interpretations rather than requiring one exact phrase. If you prefer a stricter game, replace a broad clue and its matching key before making the player sheets, not halfway through marking.

Fair scoring and a worked example

Score at most one point per clue. A player with 14 exact answers, three accepted alternatives and three misses scores 17 out of 20. There are no extra points for finishing early unless that was part of the announced rules.

For clue 10, both “wedding photography” and “couple photoshoot” fit the couple and camera. This key accepts both. If the host accepts another reasonable phrase, apply that decision to all sheets, not just the first person who asks.

If a symbol did not appear on some copies, remove that clue from everyone's maximum score. Subtract any points already awarded for it too. In the example above, if a removed clue had earned a point, the result becomes 16 out of 19; if it had been a miss, it becomes 17 out of 19.

Share a tied win. If you want a different tie rule, decide it before play rather than using the result to choose who gets an advantage.

Check symbols and make the round easy to join

Emoji can display differently on a phone, laptop or printed sheet. In this round, pay particular attention to the chapel, bride, bear, floppy disk and trophy. Print one test sheet using the same device and settings you will use for the full set. If an icon is missing, change the sheet before distributing it.

Keep symbols large and use high-contrast text. The picture-description column gives a consistent spoken or written alternative without relying on a host to improvise. Offer it to everyone rather than treating it as a special hint that costs a point. Players can work in pairs, and someone who would rather avoid visual puzzles can help with the reveal or choose a different game.

The descriptions support this version but do not make every emoji puzzle equally accessible to every player. If the format is not enjoyable for someone, a word quiz or shared activity may be a better choice.

Ready printed Bride Emoji cards

Both our standard eight-game hen party bundle and Rose Gold bundle include their own Bride Emoji game, with answer keys and instructions. They are physical game packs with guest options; check the current product page and select the option you need.

The 20 clues above are a separate DIY version, not a reproduction of either pack's cards. Use the supplied matching key when playing a printed pack, and bring pens. If you also want a different kind of round, Who Knows the Bride Best is a personal quiz rather than a picture puzzle.
