Who Knows Mummy Best is a baby shower quiz about the mum-to-be. Guests guess her answers to a set of personal questions, then score one point for each match with the answer key she has supplied. You may also see it called Who Knows Mommy Best.

Start with a short selection rather than all 30 questions below. Ask her to approve the questions and record her answers privately before the shower. A mixture of current favourites, light memories and things she enjoys gives friends from different parts of her life a chance to join in.

Set up the game

You need the same questions for every guest or team, pens and a separate host key. You can put the questions on a sheet or read them aloud while players use numbered paper. Keep the answers off the guest copies.

For the suggested 15-question round, allow around 15–20 minutes for writing, revealing answers and a few stories. That is a planning allowance, not a time limit: make the round shorter if she would prefer less attention.

Use the name or parent title she chooses. If the celebration is for more than one parent and you want a game comparing their answers, our Mum or Dad game has a different format. This quiz is about one person's own preferences and memories.

How to play Who Knows Mummy Best

  1. Choose a selection of questions and let the mum-to-be remove or change any of them.
  2. Ask for one clear answer to each selected question. Agree any acceptable alternatives before play.
  3. Put the chosen questions in the same order on the guest sheet and host key.
  4. Explain whether guests answer alone or in teams. Give everyone the same writing time.
  5. Read the questions without asking her to hint at the answers.
  6. Reveal her recorded answers and award one point for each accepted match.
  7. Add the scores. Share a tied win or use the spare question agreed before the game.

She can skip a question during the reveal too. Remove a skipped question from everyone's maximum score; there is no need to explain why it was skipped.

30 questions to choose from

The mum-to-be supplies the answers. These prompts are starting points, not facts you should assume about her. Replace a question if it has no comfortable, definite answer.

Five everyday favourites

  1. Which ice-cream flavour would she choose for a single scoop?
  2. Which flavour of crisps would she pick from a variety pack?
  3. Which flower would she choose for a small bunch on the kitchen table?
  4. Which season would she choose if she could repeat it for an extra month?
  5. Which animal would she most like to watch on a nature programme?

Five little choices

  1. Would she rather receive a surprise parcel or choose her own present?
  2. Would she choose a crossword, a jigsaw or a card game for a quiet hour?
  3. Does she prefer writing a list on paper or keeping it on her phone?
  4. Would she pick a window seat or an aisle seat for a train journey?
  5. Which scent would she choose for a bar of soap?

Five light memories

  1. Which playground game did she most enjoy as a child?
  2. What was the name of a pet she is happy to include in the quiz?
  3. Which television character did she like when she was little?
  4. What subject did she most enjoy at school?
  5. What was the first concert or live show she attended?

Five days out

  1. Which nearby place would she choose for a gentle afternoon out?
  2. Would she rather browse a bookshop, a garden centre or a craft shop?
  3. Which museum or attraction would she like to visit again?
  4. What would she choose to eat on a picnic with friends?
  5. Which view would she choose for a photograph: the coast, countryside or a city skyline?

Five things she enjoys doing

  1. Which creative activity does she most enjoy, even if she rarely gets time for it?
  2. What small household item would she most enjoy organising?
  3. Which subject could she happily listen to a whole podcast about?
  4. What would she choose to bake for fun rather than for an occasion?
  5. Which plant would she choose for a sunny windowsill?

Five memories to make

  1. Which family recipe would she like to pass on?
  2. Which childhood story would she like to share with the baby?
  3. What simple family tradition would she like to start or continue?
  4. Which place would she like to include in a future family photograph?
  5. What small everyday moment would she most like to record in a memory book?

The final group asks about hopes, not predictions or promises. Leave it out if she would rather keep the game entirely about present-day favourites. Nobody needs to discuss pregnancy symptoms, birth plans, fertility, finances or private family history to make this quiz work.

A suggested 15 question round

Choose questions 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 28 and 30. This gives three everyday favourites, three little choices, three light memories and two questions from each remaining group.

Write them as round questions 1–15, while keeping the original bank number on the host key. If you swap a question, update both copies. Check the order once by reading the guest sheet aloud while following the key.

For a group made up mainly of newer friends, replace childhood questions with current preferences. For a smaller shower, use five or ten questions and reduce the maximum score accordingly.

Copyable guest answer sheet

Copy the table into a document or onto paper. Put the selected questions beside it or have the host read them aloud. The numbers below refer to the round order, not the original question bank.

Scoring close answers and ties

Use one point for a match and zero for a miss. Ignore spelling mistakes when the intended answer is clear. For open questions, agree how specific an answer needs to be before the reveal.

Suppose her picnic answer is “cheddar and pickle sandwiches”. If you agreed that the filling matters but the bread does not, that answer needs both cheddar and pickle. Do not quietly accept “sandwiches” for one team and reject it for another.

For example, 11 exact matches, one accepted alternative and three misses gives 12 out of 15. If one question is skipped, and that question was among those three misses, the score becomes 12 out of 14. Recalculate each guest's total using only the questions that remain.

For a tie, use one approved question from the bank that was not in the main round. Tied players write their answer before the reveal, then use the same matching rule. If they are still tied, share the win rather than inventing a penalty.

Keep everyone comfortable

Mix friendship groups into pairs if some guests have known her for much longer than others. Read questions aloud as well as displaying them, and use a clear print size. A guest who would rather watch can help read the reveal or simply enjoy the conversation.

Keep her key private before the game and ask before saving or sharing completed sheets. The point is to celebrate her, not to rank how much different friends care.

Existing printable and ready printed options

If you want an existing card design, use our free Who Knows Mommy Best game. Its own questions may differ from this DIY bank, so prepare an answer key for the version you actually use. The free baby shower games hub keeps the wider download selection together.

Our physical six-game baby shower bundle includes its own Who Knows Mommy Best game alongside five other games. It is a ready-printed alternative, not a printed copy of these 30 questions. Choose the guest-pack option you need and bring pens.
