Baby Shower Word Scramble: UK Words, Rules and Answers

For a baby shower word scramble, guests rearrange mixed-up letters into baby-related words. Give everyone the same list, agree the time and scoring before starting, and keep the answer key with the host until the round ends.
This page contains an original 20-word round using UK vocabulary, plus its matching answer key. It is a separate DIY round, not a checked answer sheet for our existing downloadable PDF. If you want that download instead, visit the free Baby Shower Word Scramble game.
What you need and how to play
Copy only the guest round below onto a sheet or read it from a shared screen. Give each guest or pair a pen and somewhere to write. Keep this page's host answers out of view.
Suggested rules:
- Rearrange every letter in each jumble to make one baby-related answer. Use each letter exactly as many times as it appears.
- Spaces have been removed from the jumbles. Answers may be one word or two words; the length hint shows which.
- Allow five minutes for the full round as a starting point, or play without a timer if that suits the group.
- Award one point per correct answer, for a maximum of 20. Ignore capitalisation and spaces when marking; do not award half-points.
- If the top scores tie, share the win. This round does not use a speed-based tie-break.
These are suggested house rules, so announce any changes before handing out the list. For a relaxed gathering, pairs can compare ideas without anyone having to read an answer aloud.
Guest round: 20 scrambled baby words
The first five are shorter warm-up words. The full round includes longer equipment names and two-word answers.
On a small screen, scroll across the table to read all columns.

Host answer key for this article's round
Match these answers by number. They apply to the jumbles on this page only; another card or PDF may use a different word list and order.
| No. | Answer |
|---|---|
| 1 | Cot |
| 2 | Bib |
| 3 | Pram |
| 4 | Nappy |
| 5 | Dummy |
| 6 | Muslin |
| 7 | Bottle |
| 8 | Rattle |
| 9 | Blanket |
| 10 | Booties |
| 11 | Sleepsuit |
| 12 | Pushchair |
| 13 | Highchair |
| 14 | Changing mat |
| 15 | Lullaby |
| 16 | Nursery |
| 17 | Baby monitor |
| 18 | Car seat |
| 19 | Teething ring |
| 20 | Travel cot |
For marking, “carseat” and “car seat” count as the same answer. A related word such as “buggy” does not solve the jumble for “pushchair”: the letters still have to match. If a guest finds another valid baby-related answer using exactly the same letters, check it and accept it consistently for everyone.
Make an easier round without changing the answers
For a shorter ten-word version, use numbers 1–10 and score out of ten. Keep the original question numbers if using the answer key above. Allow as much time as the group needs, or start with the first five and offer the rest as an optional extra.
You can also offer this alphabetised word bank to all players: baby monitor, bib, blanket, booties, bottle, car seat, changing mat, cot, dummy, highchair, lullaby, muslin, nappy, nursery, pram, pushchair, rattle, sleepsuit, teething ring, travel cot.
For the ten-word version, use only its ten answers in the bank. Agree at the start whether the bank is available to everyone or whether this is a non-competitive help option. Avoid giving some competing players hints while others are being timed without them.
Use comfortably sized text and leave enough room to write. Guests can work in pairs, have the jumbles read out or simply watch; joining in is optional. A word puzzle does not have to be a speed test.
A worked scoring example and host record
Suppose Sam solves 14 answers and Alex solves 14. They share the highest score, even if Sam handed the sheet in first. If you use the shorter version, seven correct answers means 7/10, not 7/20.
| Host decision | Write before the round |
|---|---|
| Full 20 or questions 1–10? | __________ |
| Solo or pairs? | __________ |
| Timed or untimed? | __________ |
| Word bank for everyone or no bank? | __________ |
| Maximum score | __________ |
| Highest score / shared winners | __________ |
No prize is necessary. If you do use one, agree how a shared win will work before the game starts.
Download a game or choose a different printed selection
Use the existing free Word Scramble product for the downloadable game. For help making your own sheet from this article's round, see how to make printable baby shower games.
If you would rather order ready-printed games, the Baby Shower Games Bundle is a different six-game selection, with instructions and answer sheets and packs for 10, 20, 30 or 40 guests. It does not include Word Scramble or decorations. Check its full game list rather than ordering it as a printed version of this puzzle.
