Baby Shower Welcome Signs Size Wording and Display Guide
A baby shower welcome sign helps arriving guests recognise the right celebration. Choose its size around the space where it will stand, keep the main message easy to read and decide how you will support it before ordering.
You do not need a separate sign for every part of the event. One clear entrance sign can be enough. This guide compares sizes, offers 12 wording ideas for your own design and explains what to check when choosing a paper poster, board or framed print.
Choose the position before the size
Ask the venue where a sign can go. A small table beside a private-room door needs a different display from a large foyer. Check the available floor or table space, how guests approach it and whether other events are using nearby rooms.
For a home shower, walk the route from the front door to the celebration area. For a restaurant, ask whether a sign belongs at the main entrance or just outside your reserved space. A sign inside the room will not help someone choose between two doors in the corridor.
Keep doorways, accessible routes and exits clear. Include the easel's legs and the frame in your measurements, not just the printed sheet.
Baby shower welcome sign sizes
The sizes below are portrait print dimensions, stated as width × height. The placement suggestions are starting points, not guarantees of readability: the lettering, contrast, lighting and viewing distance matter too.
| Print size | A possible use | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 30 × 45 cm | A nearby entrance table or compact indoor display | Keep the text short and check the frame or support fits |
| 50 × 70 cm | A freestanding indoor welcome display | Measure the complete stand and allow space for arriving guests |
| 70 × 100 cm | A larger entrance area with room for a substantial display | Check the stand's size and load limits, transport and access |
Cut a piece of spare paper or cardboard to the proposed dimensions and place it where the sign will go. This gives you a better sense of scale than looking at a product photograph on a phone.
Is 50 × 70 cm the same as A2
No. A2 is 42 × 59.4 cm, while a 50 × 70 cm poster is both wider and taller. A3 is 29.7 × 42 cm and A1 is 59.4 × 84.1 cm. These standard dimensions are listed in Brother UK's paper size guide.
Similarly, 30 × 45 cm is not A3, and 70 × 100 cm is not A1. Buy a frame by the exact print dimensions rather than choosing the nearest A-number. A mount can change the required outer frame size, so check the frame's stated opening as well.
Which sizes does Forever Lily offer
The baby shower welcome sign range includes different designs and options:
- The teddy bear welcome sign has 30 × 45, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm size choices.
- The jungle sign, eucalyptus sign and baby girl sign each have those three size choices, with different product and frame options.
- The Oh Boy baby shower welcome sign lists a 70 × 100 cm print size and offers different product formats rather than the same three-size selector.
Check the exact design's current options before choosing a frame or stand. The measurements above describe the print size, not necessarily the outside dimensions of a supplied frame.
What to write on a baby shower welcome sign
Start with a clear welcome and enough information to identify the celebration. You can name the parent, both parents or the family, according to their preference. There is no need to announce the baby's name or sex if the family wants to keep that private.
A date can turn the sign into a keepsake, but an address, full schedule, gift instructions and several hashtags can crowd the message. Keep detailed instructions on a separate small sign if they are needed.
12 wording ideas for your own design
Use these as starting points for a DIY sign or a supplier that explicitly supports custom wording. They do not mean that every line or phrase can be changed on a ready-made Forever Lily design. On our product pages, use only the personalisation fields offered for that sign; ask us before ordering if you need different wording.

The names and date above are examples. Agree the final wording with the parent or parents before printing, especially when naming relatives or sharing information about the baby.
Paper poster board or framed print
Choose the format and display together. A large paper poster cannot be treated like a rigid board just because both are described as signs.
| Format | How to plan the display | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Paper poster | Use a suitable frame, poster hanger or backing that supports the sheet | Print dimensions, paper finish and which display accessories are separate |
| Rigid board | Use a support designed for the board's dimensions, thickness and weight | Exact board material and compatible easel or stand |
| Framed print | Use a stand or permitted hanging method that supports the complete frame | Outside frame dimensions, weight and supplied fittings |
“Foam”, “framed” and “poster” are not interchangeable. Select the product option you actually want; a framed photograph in a listing does not by itself mean every variant includes that frame or an easel.
If you are printing your own sign, send the printer a file in the correct proportions. Stretching an A-series design to fit a different poster ratio can distort text, while cropping can remove decorative details or part of a name.
How to display the sign
On an entrance table
Use a frame or holder designed for the sign's size and weight. Put it on a stable surface where guests can see it without moving other objects. Keep drinks, vases and food away from an unprotected paper print.
On a floor stand
Check the stand manufacturer's limits and use all its supports as instructed. Make sure the print or board cannot slide off the ledge. Place the display where guests will not trip over the legs or knock it while opening a door.
On a wall
Ask the venue what fixing methods are permitted. Follow the frame and fixing manufacturers' instructions; do not assume a removable adhesive will hold every framed print or leave every wall untouched.
Outdoors
Confirm that both the sign material and its support are suitable for the conditions. A standard paper poster should not be assumed to be rainproof, and wind can make a large display unstable. If suitable outdoor use is not confirmed, choose a sheltered indoor position instead.
Check the lettering before printing
Give the event name or welcome message the clearest position. Use enough contrast between the text and background, and keep decorative lettering away from details guests must read quickly.
If you are designing the sign yourself, test a small section of the lettering at its intended final size. Look at it in lighting similar to the venue and from the approach guests will use. A whole poster shrunk onto A4 can help check layout, but it does not show how large the final letters will be.
Read the spelling, punctuation and date aloud. Check the exact text entered into any name or date field before adding the sign to your basket. If a supplier offers a proof, check it carefully; do not assume a proof or unrestricted wording changes are included unless the product says so.
Before you order
- Confirm the wording with the parent or parents.
- Choose the print size and orientation.
- Select the intended material or framed option.
- Check whether you also need a frame, backing, easel or table holder.
- Measure the complete display space and check venue permission.
- Confirm the delivery estimate for the exact product and leave time to inspect it before the event.
- Check the terms for the option you are buying, particularly if you add personalisation.

Common questions
Do you need a welcome sign at a baby shower
No. It is an optional decoration that can be useful in a shared venue or at an unfamiliar entrance. Spend on it if it helps your setup, not because every celebration needs one.
Should the sign name the mum or both parents
Use the wording the people being celebrated prefer. A family name or “our baby shower” can work when you do not want to list individual names.
Does a poster include an easel
Only if the product explicitly says so. Check the selected format and included accessories rather than assuming that everything shown in a styled photograph comes with the order.
Can you use the sign after the shower
You can keep it as a memento or display it indoors if its material and condition suit that use. Think about the final wording and available storage space before choosing a very large print.
